Memphis football is undefeated after two games, and the Tigers are inching closer to the Top 25.
The Tigers (2-0) received 24 voting points in the US LBM Coaches Poll that was released on Sept. 8. That
made the Tigers essentially No. 32.
Memphis received the second most voting points of any Group of Six team. Boise State
, which lost to Oregon 34-27 on Sept. 5, was also unranked but is essentially No. 29.The Tigers will travel to Boise to take on the Broncos on Sept. 12 (5 p.m., USA Network).
It'll be the second time this season that Memphis has gone into a game as an underdog. The Tigers opened the season at UNLV with a 27-21 win, then beat Arkansas State 42-24 in the home opener on Sept. 5.
The game against Boise State could have major College Football Playoff implications. A win would give the Tigers key victories over leading contenders in both the Mountain West and Pac-12 and could come into play later in the season if Memphis continues to have success once conference play starts.
It's also the last big game for Memphis for a while. After the Boise State game, Memphis will face UT Martin (Sept. 19), Charlotte (Oct. 3) and UAB (Oct. 10). The Tigers will be significant favorites in all of those games.
