Memphis saw the area's top fourTSSAA footballteams face each other in Week 6. Briarcrest won the game of the week 38-30 over Southwind, the exact score predicted by The Commercial Appeal.
Week 7 brings another slate of exciting Memphis-area matchups, with region play in full swings these matchups between rivals mean more now than in previous weeks.
Game of the Week
Briarcrest (6-0, 1-0 in DII-AAA West Region) at Christian Brothers (4-2, 0-1)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 2
Briarcrest is coming off one of its biggest wins of the season, beating Southwind in Week 6. The Saints looked dominant a majority of the contest and they led by as much as 21 points.
The Purple Wave won their last game 42-12 over PURE Academy in Week 6. They are set up for a successful second half of the season, with four consecutive region games left on the regular-season schedule.
CBHS had a monumental week off the field, announcing its football team will play an independent 10-game schedule and opt out of Division II-AAA for the next two school years. Briarcrest will remain in the region.

Arlington (5-1, 0-1 in 7-6A) at Cordova (2-3, 0-1)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 2
This matchup between two Region 7-6A opponents is key for both programs. Arlington won 21-7 over Lakeland Prep following its 55-7 loss to Collierville, while Cordova has lost three straight games, most recently falling 46-0 to Houston. Both teams would benefit from earning their first region win.
Myers’ prediction: Arlington 35, Cordova 14
Brentwood Academy (4-2, 1-0 in DII-AAA West) at MUS (3-3, 0-2)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 2
Memphis University School welcomes one of the top programs in Brentwood Academy. Eagles previously knocked off CBHS 43-7 on Sept. 18, but the Owls will play with energy as they seek their first Division II-AAA win of the season.
Like Christian Brothers, MUS announced Sep. 28 that it will opt out of the upcoming TSSAA classification cycle and play an independent 10-game schedule.
Myers’ prediction: Brentwood Academy 47, MUS 21
Hillcrest (4-2, 1-2 in 8-2A) at Mitchell (3-3, 2-1)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 1 (Thursday)
In the tightly contested Region 8-2A standings, Hillcrest visits Mitchell in a game that could shift the balance of power. Mitchell lost in region play for the first time, falling 14-6 in overtime against MASE. Hillcrest, meanwhile, earned its first region win in Week 6, beating Trezevant 27-0.
Myers’ prediction: Mitchell 38, Hillcrest 20
Memphis Central (6-0, 1-0 in 8-5A) at Memphis Overton (4-2, 0-0)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 2
Central has been climbing theSuper 15 rankingsover the past few weeks. The Warriors improved to 6-0 after defeating Germantown 28-21 in their homecoming game. Overton has yet to play a region game, but consecutive wins by 35 points or more over Manassas and Wooddale are a good sign.
Myers’ prediction: Memphis Central 35, Memphis Overton 16
Fairley (4-2, 3-0 in 8-2A) at Memphis Business (3-3, 3-1)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 1
The top two teams in Region 8-2A face off Thursday night. Fairley has won three straight games since opening region play, outscoring opponents 160-6. Memphis Business has followed a similar path, scoring 54 points against Sheffield and 39 against Bluff City. But its 34-0 loss to Mitchell shows the team is not untouchable in the region.
Myers’ prediction: Fairley 42, Memphis Business 21
Wooddale (3-3, 1-1 in 8-3A) at Raleigh-Egypt (4-2, 3-0)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 2
Region 8-3A has begun to split in half. The teams at the top of the standings have largely dominated, while three teams that are winless in 2026 round out the bottom. Wooddale sits in the middle of the pack. If the Cardinals can knock off Raleigh-Egypt, which is atop the standings, it would provide a boost toward a late-season playoff push.
Myers’ prediction: Raleigh-Egypt 27, Wooddale 21 (OT)
Kirby (3-3) at Southwind (5-1)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 2
The Jaguars will try to bounce back after their first loss of the season, which came at Briarcrest. Kirby enters the matchup on a three-game winning streak. Still, the visitors will be underdogs.
Myers’ prediction: Southwind 40, Kirby 13
Pearl Cohn (3-3) at Bartlett (3-3)
When: 7 p.m. | Oct. 2
Bartlett is aiming to get back on track after dropping its first two games of region play against Houston and Collierville. The Panthers face steep opposition however going up against a Pearl Cohn program that has featured in two of the last three 4A state championship games.
Myers' prediction: Bartlett 33, Pearl Cohn 27
Oak Grove, Mississippi (3-1) at Houston (3-3)
When: 6 p.m. | Oct. 2
The Mustangs will be feeling confident heading into this matchup, winning their first two Region 7-6A games against Cordova and Bartlett. However, Oak Grove theNo.7 team in Mississippiaccording to the Clarion Ledger, comes to town for the clash.
The last time Houston faced a team from Mississippi it was Tupelo that beat them 42-13 in Week 4.
Myers' prediction: Houston 30, Oak Grove 24 (OT)
