A woman's body was found near a popular hiking trail on the northeastern edge of Desert Hot Springs. Police were investigating but said Wednesday, Aug. 5, they’d found no signs of foul play so far.
Officers responded at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, to a report of a possible deceased person in the desert area east of San Ardo Road and Pomelo Drive. There they found a woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the circumstances and location where the woman was found, detectives began an investigation. In a press release Aug. 5, Desert Hot Springs Police Department spokesperson Lt. Christopher Saucier said there were no signs of foul play, but added that detectives continued to investigate the case.
Based on the location provided by police,
the body was found close to the start of the Swiss Canyon Trail.
The woman’s identity had not yet been released by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office as of 4 p.m. Aug 5.
