A local pizzeria has been recognized by USA TODAY as one of the best pizza spots in the nation.
Giuseppes Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria is known for its Chicago-style pan pizza, as well as a thinner, square-cut pie, and was highlighted for both on a recent best pizza joints in America list
. The Desert Sun also spotlighted its plentiful menu, which includes various meat and fish entrees, plus cannoli and tiramisu, in a recent best pizza in the desert roundup.The restaurant was founded by Joe Funkey, a native of Chicago. In 2008, he moved his family to the desert and opened the original location in Cathedral City (which has since closed). Soon after, Funkey expanded into Palm Springs, and most recently, he opened a new location at Shadow Ridge

Giuseppes appeared on the national list alongside other pizza restaurants such as Via Della Slice Shop in Phoenix, King Dough in Indianapolis, The Post in Louisville, Caradaro Club in Milwaukee and Brooklyn Square Pizza in New Jersey.
