Cathedral City police are investigating a shooting that left a 42-year-old Desert Hot Springs man in critical condition on Friday, Oct. 23.
Someone took the victim, who police did not identify, to Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage for treatment after the shooting. He is stable.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department started an investigation into what happened to the victim. It notified Cathedral City police around 4:30 p.m. Friday after determining he was injured in a shooting in the 38-300 block of Chuperosa Lane in Cathedral City.
Local police responded to the scene and found evidence of a crime. Cathedral City police said investigators detained several people who were at the home to investigate their potential involvement.
The preliminary
investigation determined that the victim and another person arrived near the home in a car, police said. Someone then shot the victim while he was still inside the car. Police said a passenger drove the victim to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges were sought against anyone authorities had detained as of Friday night, police added.
