All but one restaurant visited by Riverside County health inspectors this week passed their health inspection, according to reports.
Coachella Mexican restaurant Birreria Jalisco received a "B" grade due to a number of violations including improper food holding temperatures, potentially contaminated raw fish, non-functional air curtains and several missing Food Handler Certifications. The eatery will be revisited by inspectors on Sept. 10 when they will have an opportunity to raise their score.
Here are the restaurants that were inspected in the Coachella Valley Aug. 28 through Sept. 3:
'B' grades
Birreria Jalisco, 1605 6th St., Coachella
- Inspection conducted Sept. 3
- Violations: The inspector observed the following: approximately 100 containers of salsa in display cooler measured between 51-52F (should be at or below 41°F); two packages of thawed, not frozen reduced oxygen packaged (ROP) raw fish stored inside two door cooler; both air curtains non-functional; Raid stored on metro shelving adjacent to three door freezer; food containers stored uncovered; a large box of raw shelled eggs stored above a tray of cooked Mexican rice; five large containers of aguas frescas stored on the floor of the walk in cooler; bowl utilized as a scoop in bulk container of rice; dust and food accumulation and debris in several spots; three CO2 tanks unchained adjacent to soda syrup storage; missing probe thermometer; three wet wiping cloths stored on equipment; personal items stored commingled with food; various Food Handler Certifications missing and several repairs needed: ambient temperature in one door display cooler, torn gaskets in three spots and nonfunctional light fixture at hood in main kitchen.
'A' grades
An “A” grade, or a score of 90 to 100 points, means a restaurant passed an inspection and met minimum health standards.
