As Breast Cancer Awareness Month approaches, the Coachella Valley is preparing for an evening of community, celebration and purpose. Local nonprofit organization Shay's Warriors Life After Cancer is pleased to announce the return of its signature fall fundraiser, the Bosoms & Brews Fest, hosted in partnership at La Quinta Brewing Co. and presented by Desert Oasis Healthcare, on Oct. 15 at La Quinta Brewing Co. in Palm Desert.
Embracing this year's "Pink Diamonds & Denim" theme, attendees can look forward to a vibrant evening featuring local craft beer, a barbecue dinner, live country music, line dancing, silent auctions and opportunity drawings.
Community impact of Bosoms & Brews
While active treatment ends, the transition into life after cancer presents complex physical, emotional
and mental challenges. Funds raised at the Bosoms & Brews Fest are split evenly between men's and women's programs to ensure comprehensive long-term cancer support for survivors across the Coachella Valley.
In collaboration with Desert Healthcare District and The Pink Journey Foundation, the festival features a "Get Your Mammogram and Women's Wellness Check" pledge table aiming to secure 200 health screening pledges on Oct. 31 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the La Quinta Wellness Center.
Proceeds from the festival directly underwrite vital survivorship resources provided by Shay's Warriors. These include:
Free evidence-based mind, body and wellness programs, including yoga, meditation, reiki, fitness and strength classes, all tailored specifically for cancer survivors. Also provided are educational workshops designed to help survivors regain not only physical strength but peace of mind for a whole person's healing approach with community.
Support groups and peer connection: Monthly accountability support groups and gatherings foster a safe, understanding community where survivors and their families can navigate life after treatment together.
The "I Am Hope" Survivors Retreat and the Yo-Bro I Am Brave Too: Full funding allows local cancer survivors to attend an exclusive, all-expenses-paid weekend reset retreat focused on emotional healing, empowerment and building lifelong connections at zero cost to participants.
Patient care initiatives: These support seasonal efforts, such as the "Give Without Expectations" campaign, which delivers comfort and holiday care packages directly to local oncology patients undergoing treatment.
If you go: The third annual Bosoms & Brews Fest for Breast Cancer Awareness will take place Oct. 15 from 5 to 9 p.m. at 74-714 Technology Drive in Palm Desert. General admission tickets (including event access, beer garden wristband and barbecue dinner) as well as VIP packages and sponsorship opportunities are available online at bosomsandbrewsfest.com.
Life after cancer brings unique physical, emotional and mental challenges that often go unaddressed once active treatments end. The Bosoms & Brews Fest isn't just a fundraiser, it's a celebration of resilience, community strength and hope. Partnering with local favorites like La Quinta Brewing Co. allows the organization to come together in a fun, welcoming setting to ensure that no survivor has to walk their post-cancer journey alone.
