A driver struck and killed a bicyclist Monday night, Oct. 5, in Palm Springs, police said.
Palm Springs police responded around 8:30 p.m. to the 3700 block of East Palm Canyon Drive, where, according to a preliminary investigation, an eastbound driver had struck a bicyclist, spokesperson Lt. Michael Torres said in a press release.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity was not released pending notification of family members.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Torres said. Police has not identified impairment as a factor in the crash.
The crash remained under investigation. Police said anyone who witnessed it or may have video from the area can contact the department at 760-327-1441.
