A Palm Desert restaurant is getting national attention thanks to USA Today's list of best sandwiches in America.
The Lunch Spot was among 26 eateries across the country to make it onto USA Today's list, which spotlights restaurants that are "worth a road trip (or a detour)." The restaurant also made it onto The Desert Sun's recent roundup of standout sandwich eateries in the Coachella Valley.
The Palm Desert restaurant packs a punch with almost every option on its menu, from its classic turkey pesto and spicy Italian options to its paninis. But the standout menu item that made USA TODAY's list is The CEO (#19 on the menu), which comes stacked with oven-roasted turkey, bacon, onion, sprouts, pepperoncini, pepper jack cheese and spicy aioli. The Palm Desert locale appeared alongside other top-notch restaurants from around the country, including Pane Bianco in Phoenix (try the Porchetta Sandwich), La Boutique in Fort Collins, Colorado (the French dip is a favorite) and Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop in Boston (USA Today recommends the mortadella sandwich).
