This weekend’s live entertainment lineup in the Coachella Valley and high desert includes a Hollywood leading man who also fronts a country-rock band, a Mexican rock group returning for a second local show, a dance production celebrating the music of an iconic songwriter and poet, a classic Australian rock band that found success in the United States before its peers, and an all-female Japanese punk band.

Kevin Costner and Modern West at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa
Country: You know him from roles such as John Dutton in the TV series "Yellowstone" and Frank Farmer in the 1992 film "The Bodyguard," but there's another side to Kevin Costner: country-rock band frontman. Costner,
backed by his band Modern West, has released five albums since his 2008 debut, "Untold Truths." His most recent album in 2020, "Tales From Yellowstone," featured songs written by Costner and co-writers from the perspective of his character.
Even though "Yellowstone" has had a strong presence at the Stagecoach country music festival in recent years, with a branded tent featuring show-related activities, and Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, performed in 2023, Costner has performed only once at the festival, in 2009.

Maná at Acrisure Arena

'Dance Me: The Music of Leonard Cohen' at the McCallum Theatre

Dance: The late Leonard Cohen's songwriting was poetic, but it was also vivid and melancholy, featuring themes of spirituality, betrayal, regret, depression, dread, societal collapse and more. "Dance Me: The Music of Leonard Cohen" brings the stories of some of his songs to life through contemporary dance. The production — choreographed by Andonis Foniadakis, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Ihsan Rustem exclusively for Ballets Jazz Montréal — was approved by Cohen before he died in 2016 and debuted the following year.
The show features 14 performing artists of Ballets Jazz Montréal and 16 of Cohen's songs such as "Suzanne," ""Hallelujah," "Everybody Knows," "Boogie Street," and "A Thousand Kisses Deep."

Little River Band at Spotlight 29 Casino
Rock: Even though Little River Band doesn't have any original members remaining, the Australian rock band continues on with longtime bassist and frontman Wayne Nelson. The band is renowned for hits such as "Reminiscing," "Lonesome Loser," "Cool Change," "Lady," and "Help Is on Its Way," and was the first Australian band to have multiple hit singles in the U.S. during the '70s.

Otoboke Beaver at Pappy and Harriet's
Punk: The Japanese all-female punk band Otoboke Beaver puts on an electrifying, chaotic live show that has to be seen to be believed. Even though the songs are in Japanese, the band has won over U.S. crowds and performed at festivals such as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, South by Southwest, Lollapalooza and more. The Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Green Day have also had Otoboke Beaver as an opening act during tours.
Otoboke Beaver will perform on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Pappy and Harriet's.
