The Coachella Valley Journalism Foundation is inducting four journalists into its Hall of Fame in January to honor their service to the community.
Carl Bernstein, a renowned investigative journalist who reported on the Watergate scandal for The Washington Post, will be the keynote speaker at the celebratory luncheon on Jan. 25. He will discuss the importance and legacy of investigative journalism.

The journalists who will join CVJF’s Coachella Valley Media Hall of Fame are Héctor Félix Sr., Brad Fuhr, Thalia Hayden and, posthumously, Joan Behrmann. NBC Palm Springs anchor Olivia Sandusky, CVJF’s 2025 Journalist of the Year, is the emcee for the ceremony. CVJF will also celebrate local journalists with Journalist of the Year and Rising Star awards.
Who are the new hall of fame inductees?

Héctor Félix Sr. is Spanish-language newspaper El Informador del Valle’s founding publisher. The newspaper has served eastern Riverside County since 1988, a CVJF press release said.
Brad Fuhr founded Gay Desert Guide and owns radio stations that include KGAY. Thalia Hayden anchors NBC Palm Springs’ morning news show and also hosts a segment called “Talking with Thalia.”
Joan Behrmann was the first woman to be The Desert Sun’s executive editor. She was also a USA Today founding editor, the CVJF said. Behrmann died in March.
When and where is the event?
The event will be held on Monday, Jan. 25 at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
How can people get tickets?
Tickets can be purchased at www.cvjf.org.
Individual tickets are $250 and include lunch, beverages and self-parking. A table for 10 is $2,250. The CVJF said proceeds will go toward supporting local newsrooms through its grants.
