Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus celebrated its 2026-2027 Rogers Scholars at its annual Rogers Scholarship reception on Sept. 29.
The reception brought together scholarship recipients, CSUSB representatives and members of the Rogers family to recognize the students’ academic achievements, leadership and commitment to serving their communities.
During the event, scholars had an opportunity to meet John Rogers and his daughter, Janet Rogers, whose generosity has supported Palm Desert Campus students for more than three decades. Each recipient was also presented with a commemorative gift symbolizing their place within the distinguished community of Rogers Scholars.
The reception also gave the scholars an opportunity to share their gratitude
with the Rogers family and recognize the professors, mentors, family members and others who have supported them throughout their educational journeys.
The 2026-27 Rogers Scholars are: Alexis Agbayani, nursing; Adriana Banda, social work; Eric Chaidez, communication; Nicole Corona, nursing; Kirsten Gue, nursing; Bernabe Juarez, nursing; Karen Orozco, nursing; Valerie Perez, English; Crystal Romero, psychology; Nathen Velasco, nursing; and Keith Winters, business administration.
The Mary Stuart Rogers Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 to provide financial assistance to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus. Recipients are selected based on academic excellence, leadership qualities, commitment to personal growth and dedication to serving their fellow students and communities.
Since its establishment, the Rogers Scholarship program has awarded more than $2 million to Palm Desert Campus students, helping them pursue their educational and professional goals while preparing them to make meaningful contributions in the Coachella Valley and beyond.
The 2026-2027 recipients now join an accomplished network of Rogers Scholars whose achievements reflect the program’s enduring legacy of academic excellence, leadership and service.
