Those in the Coachella Valley can look forward to sunny skies and warm temperatures the week of Monday, Sept. 28 after recently experiencing light rain, thunderstorms and cooler weather.
Clouds filled the sky on Monday, Sept. 28 but will clear out as the day progresses, said Sebastian Westerink, a National Weather Service meteorologist. The clouds are causing the cooler weather, he added.
The valley had eventful weather last week — thunderstorms and light rain drizzled over certain areas on Thursday, Sept. 24. But nothing exciting like that is expected this week, according to Westerink.
“It’ll be pretty benign weather from here on out,” he said.
Monday’s high will be around 90 degrees. Tuesday will be slightly warmer at about 93 degrees. The weather
will keep heating up to the upper 90s and low 100s for the week’s remainder.
Westerink said strong wind gusts will blow through the usual areas in the valley, like the Banning Pass, on Monday. There will be some spots of wind on Tuesday afternoon, he added.
It’s been unusually humid in the desert, thanks to monsoon weather and hurricanes like Hurricane Polo, which is nearing the Baja California Peninsula. Westerink said that will continue to be the case, though it won’t be exceptionally so. Monday will be the most humid of the week, he added.
“It certainly won’t be dry,” he said.
