After roughly a year of construction, the newest Agua Caliente Fuel gas station has opened in Cathedral City.
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians welcomed the first cars into the new station on Thursday, Oct. 15. The franchise is known for its relatively cheap gas. And by mid-morning on Thursday, dozens of cars were pulling up to its 24 pumps.
Opening at $5.29 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas, the station was noticeably cheaper than other nearby options. Still, California has experienced months of elevated gas prices. The average across the state was $6.23, according to AAA.

The tribe also operates two other gas stations, one in Rancho Mirage and another in Palm Springs. Both hold 24 pumps. Unlike those stations, the Cathedral City location
does not have indoor gaming. However, the tribe's Cathedral City casino is only a block away.
