It's time once again for The Desert Sun's Athlete of the Week voting. That's where you vote for the top high school player from the honorees listed below.
Simply vote for your favorite in the poll attached to this article and the player with the most votes at noon on Saturday will be the weekly winner.
Before we jump into this week, let's look back at last week. You voted and you chose Xavier Prep volleyball star Janelle Herling. Herling set a school record for assists in a single match with 60 in the Saints 3-2 win over Palm Desert.

Sasha Gomez, La Quinta golf
What she did: Gomez picked the perfect time to fire her career-best round of even-par 36 for co-medalist honors. She did it against rival Palm Desert as the Blackhawks beat the Aztecs 205-218, beating their rivals for the first time in 32 years! Wow.
Micaela Mendoza-Cuevas, Shadow Hills volleyball
What she did: Mendoza-Cuevas has been setting the table all season for the Knights including an impressive 29 assists in a 3-0 win over Banning that clinched at worst a share of the DVL title for the Knights.
Morgan Sanders, Rancho Mirage volleyball
What she did: Sanders continued her strong senior season as the Rattlers setter, racked up 29 assists in a 3-1 win over La Quinta in a crucial Desert Valley League clash.
Julia Sargent, La Quinta golf
What she did: When your team does something that hasn't been done in 32 years you get two Athlete of the Week nominees. Sargent also shot an even-par 36 to help the Blackhawks finally breakthrough against Palm Desert. Four days earlier, Sargent shot a 33 in a match against a team from San Diego.
Grace Thompson, Palm Desert flag football
What she did: Thompson, who has been consistently solid all year, had an excellent game in a 19-6 win over Desert Hot Springs. Thompson completed 21 of 28 passes for 141 yards and three touchdowns in the important win.
