Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are expected to slam into the area around the Coachella Valley in the early morning of Sunday, Oct. 11. Cities within the valley are expected to see gusts up to 45 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from 2 to 5 a.m., Sunday, for an area stretching from Idyllwild and Banning to Coachella.
"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects," the advisory said. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."

The wind comes as Tropical Storm Rachel sweeps inland from the Pacific Ocean. NWS has issued a flood watch for much of the region and expects up to three quarters of an inch for Palm Springs.
The mountains west of Palm Springs are expected to be particularly
hard hit from the storm. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour are forecasted for early Sunday morning near Idyllwild The San Gorgonio Pass and Desert Hot Springs are also expected to see similarly high winds.
The weather service urged caution throughout the advisory.
The weather has caused Goldenvoice to adjust the schedule for the Head Trip music festival taking place this weekend in Indio. Saturday's headliner, Calvin Harris, will now end at 11 p.m. instead of 1 a.m. as originally planned.
Goldenvoice said on social media the schedule was adjusted to accommodate expected lightning. NWS said thunderstorms were possible in addition to rain and wind.
