I'm not exactly sure how to handle being perfect on my Week 1 picks. Do I talk the talk or do I play it cool, knowing that I'll likely be humbled as soon as I think that it was anything more than luck?
It's true. I was 10-for-10, correctly picking all Week 1 winners among games that included our local high school football teams. Our sports editor, Shad Powers, was 6-4 with his picks.
It's also true that I likely won't have another perfect week again this season. I absolutely do my research, talk to players and coaches and think that I have a feel for the teams in the valley. But this is obviously anything but an exact science. Some teams show up when we don't expect and others might be dealing with an injury or a situation that is unforeseen that prevents
them from playing as well as we expect.
Either way, we enjoy making these picks each week. So, now, as we enter Week 2, I'll try to match what I did last week and Shad will attempt to improve on his record.
Now that we have a week under our belts, it should be interesting to see if what we think we know about the teams in the area is accurate or if it turns out that we don't yet know much at all.

Andrew's Game of the Week: I'll be at Desert Hot Springs versus Xavier Prep. I just think this game is interesting because I see Desert Hot Springs being better than most expect. But I also think Xavier Prep has high potential, even if the Saints don't win this game. Most of all, I don't really know what to expect and that's a good thing.
