The hot weather may still be holding strong in the Coachella Valley, but as the fall season approaches, so, too, do plenty of fun events.

'Sueño Eterno (Eternal Dream)' Art Exhibit
Support student artists this month as they celebrate the first College of the Desert Marks Center exhibit of the 2026-27 school year. "'Sueño Eterno' (Eternal Dream) is an all-figurative exhibition exploring how we live with loss," says Curator Luis Rodriquez. "Through painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and 3D printing, the work reframes grief as a sustained practice rather than a crisis to escape. How do we hold loss without stopping our lives? How do we honor the dead by being fully alive? This is not a monument to pain but a practice of attention. If we cannot choose when endings come, we can choose how we meet them — through care, curiosity, and the courage to continue."

Agua's Got Talent
Agua Caliente Casino Cathedral City launched Agua’s Got Talent, a new weekly competition showcasing local talent every Wednesday at Agave Caliente Tequila Bar. The free, weekly talent contest is open to guests and performers ages 21 and older, and invites singers, acoustic vocal acts and comedians to compete. The weekly winner will receive a $250 Agua Fuel Gift Card and will advance to the Agua’s Got Talent semi-finals, which will take place Sept. 30 and Oct. 7. The championship is set to take place Oct. 9.

Chicago Styx

Palm Springs Women's Jazz Festival presents 2026 Blues at the Woodstock
The sky isn't the only thing blue around here. The Palm Springs Women's Jazz Festival will be celebrating the power of the blues at its 2026 Blues at the Woodstock event. This two-day music festival brings together a talented group of women, including Miriah Avila, Kimberly Nichole, J’Cenae, Martha Redbone and Dr. Gail Jhonson, among others. In addition to powerhouse sounds, Nichole will deliver a tribute to blues icon Willie Mae “Big Mama” Thornton, who challenged gender norms and broke barriers for women.

The Temptations

Calling all film and news enthusiasts: The Coachella Valley Journalism Foundation is launching a new film series showcasing some of the best journalism films in history with commentary by some of the biggest names in the industry. The series kicks off with a screening of "Citizen Kane," often considered one of the greatest movies of all time, which paints a fascinating portrait of newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane following his death. Following the film, special guests Josh Mankiewicz, a "Dateline NBC" reporter, and Ben Mankiewicz, the host of Turner Classic Movies," will discuss the film. Ever wanted to be a comedy writer? Or want to improve your writing skills for live performance in general? Kevin Costner & Modern West
Kevin Costner & Modern West is an Americana and rock band founded by actor Kevin Costner in 2007. 19th annual Concert for Autism kick off

Erik Karapetyan
Armenian singer-songwriter Erik Karapetyan, often known simply as Erik, is returning to the US for a special one-night-only show in the desert. The pop singer represented Armenia in the 2011 New Wave international contest for young performers and achieved fifth place. He also won "Audience's Choice" of that competition. In 2016, he became one of the jury members of the Armenian "X-Factor."

MANÁ

The Dinah 2026
The Dinah, the legendary queer women's music festival held annually in Palm Springs, kicks off at the end of the month. The event begins with the first party of the weekend at 8 p.m. on Sept. 30 (which is free to attend), and continues with more parties, performances and fun all weekend long. Performers include Da Brat, Hayley Kiyoko, Sasha Keable, The Aces, Dinah DJs, dancers and more.

Daughtry
The band Daughtry is making its grand return to the desert. Helmed by frontman Chris Daughtry, who finished in 4th place on "American Idol" Season 5, the band "had the top-selling album of 2007 and was the fastest selling rock debut album in Soundscan history," as the press release says. Their debut record was nominated for four GRAMMY Awards and won four American Music Awards, alongside seven Billboard Music Awards, including “Album of the Year.” In 2021, the band released their record "Dearly Beloved," with three singles all cracking the Top 10.
