To coffee lovers' delight, Tuesday, Sept. 29, is National Coffee Day.
With it, of course, comes a slew of discounts and freebies across California.
And if Americans' love for coffee wasn't already clear, a recent report from the National Coffee Association only reinforces the point.
The report found that more adults consume coffee each day than any other beverage, including tap and bottled water. The 2026 National Coffee Data Trends Fall Report found that 66% of Americans reported drinking coffee at some point in the past day, with out-of-home coffee consumption nearing pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels.
The report found that 83% of coffee drinkers have coffee at home, while out-of-home consumption among coffee drinkers reached 38% in the survey, the highest
level since January 2020. Additionally, more American adults now drink specialty coffee than traditional coffee — 48% reported having specialty coffee in the past day, a new record.
“Few things are as deeply woven into American life as coffee, and these numbers show our love for coffee is only growing stronger and more diverse," said National Coffee Association president and CEO Bill Murray in a statement. "Whether it’s brewed at home, ordered at a drive-thru, or enjoyed in a favorite espresso-based drink, coffee continues to evolve while remaining an essential part of millions of Americans’ daily routines.”

Starbucks celebrates with new Aerocano drink, Mini Pies
Starbucks is introducing a new iced espresso beverage to its menus, the Aerocano, starting Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The Aerocano is a "smooth Starbucks Blonde Espresso air-whipped to create a light foam and cascading visual effect, which Starbucks says is a modern take on the Iced Americano.
Three new Mini Pies are also arriving on Sept. 29: Apple Crumble Mini Pie, Pecan Mini Pie, and Pumpkin Mini Pie.

Dunkin' offers free drink with purchase on National Coffee Day
Dunkin' Rewards members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase through the Dunkin' app on Sept. 29, the company told USA TODAY.
Additionally, building on its collaboration with apparel company L.L. Bean, Dunkin' is dropping a Dunkin'-inspired Birdseye Sweater and Boat and Tote on Tuesday, along with a limited-edition L.L. Bean Coffee Tote.
The two brands collaborated on a sweater-shaped koozie that came free with any hot or iced coffee purchase at participating locations on Sept. 22.

Dutch Bros celebrating with special merch drop
Starting 5 a.m. local time on Sept. 29, customers who purchase any two drinks at participating Dutch Bros locations can receive a set of two mystery straw toppers inspired by fan-favorite Dutch Bros drink names, including Shark Attack, Tiger's Blood, Laser Cat and more.

Peet's Coffee offers 25-cent medium coffees
In honor of its 60th anniversary, Peet's Coffee is turning back the clock on Sept. 29 by offering medium coffees for the chain's original 1966 price: 25 cents.
Customers can redeem the offer at participating Peet's coffee bars nationwide.
For at-home coffee drinkers, Peet's is offering 25% off online orders on Peets.com.

Dairy Queen offers new DQ Coffee Cooler for just $3
In honor of National Coffee Day, Dairy Queen is offering customers a small DQ Coffee Cooler for $3 at participating locations across the nation through Nov. 1.
DQ Coolers are available in three flavors:

- Salted Caramel DQ Coffee Cooler
- Toasted Marshmallow DQ Coffee Cooler – limited-time only

Krispy Kreme unveils Original Glazed Coffee Flavored Doughnut
Want your coffee fix in the form of a sweet treat? You're in luck.
In honor of National Coffee Day, Krispy Kreme unveiled a new Original Glazed Coffee Flavored Doughnut.
The limited-time specialty doughnut, which debuted on Saturday, Sept. 26, and will be available through Tuesday, Sept. 29, combines "Krispy Kreme's iconic Original Glazed doughnut with smooth, creamy coffee flavor that is subtly bold and perfectly sweet," according to the company.
Additionally, customers who visit Krispy Kreme shops Sept. 29 can get a free small or medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase, and customers can get a dozen Original Glazed Coffee Flavored doughnuts for just $5 with the purchase of any dozen at regular price Sept. 26-29.
There is a limit of two per guest in-shop and via the drive-thru, and a limit of one per guest via Krispy Kreme's app for pickup or delivery, using promo code "COFFEE" while supplies last.

Pilot offers free coffee
Pilot is offering customers free any-sized hot coffees on Sept. 29, no purchase necessary.
Customers can take advantage of the offer by opening the Pilot app and redeeming the National Coffee Day offer at checkout.

Circle K offers free coffee for Inner Circle Rewards members
On National Coffee Day, Inner Circle Rewards members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee at any of Circle K's hundreds of Golden State locations. The offer is redeemable through the Circle K app.
Customers can download the Circle K app, text "JOIN" to 25050, sign up at Circlek.com or simply enter their mobile number at the pump or register to join the loyalty program.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has a pair of promotions to celebrate National Coffee Day.
On Sept. 29, Coffee Bean Rewards members can enjoy any large beverage for just $5. Additionally, customers at participating Los Angeles-area cafes who spend $15 or more in-cafe beginning Sept. 29 will receive a free limited-edition mini tote and one collectible patch while supplies last.
The promotion features 12 unique patch designs released across three drops throughout the celebration, the company told USA TODAY.
