October is here and temperatures are finally dropping, so that means it’s time for the biggest architecture event of the fall: Modernism Week — October. It all kicks off Oct. 15, and the forecast shows perfect weather for a double decker architectural bus tour, or a tour through one of Palm Springs’ mid-century modern neighborhoods.
Although Modernism Week — October isn't a new event, the festival is debuting several new experiences this week, including two new dining experiences and an after hours cocktail series, as well as an exclusive look at historic homes in Rancho Mirage that once housed Hollywood stars.
Here are the seven most important things to know if you plan on attending Modernism Week — October.

Modernism Week — October is a four-day
counterpart to the 11-day main event on Feb. 11-21, 2027 celebrating mid-century modern architecture, art, interior design, landscape design and vintage style, and it features a variety of events such as architecture tours inside significant homes, a classic car show, entertainment options, talks, and other events.

Events are held all over the Coachella Valley, with a heavy emphasis on buildings in Palm Springs and neighboring cities.
How do I get tickets?
Looking to tour the Modernism Week Featured Home, The Marquee, in the Twin Palms neighborhood? Or perhaps the Frey House II? Maybe stroll through the Palm Springs Modernism Show? Good news, you’re in luck. Tickets for most of these events are still available at modernismweek.com/october-2026/. Events do sell out, however, so check back for availability.

Not sure where to start? For first-timers especially, we recommend getting the lay of the land with the Premier Double Decker Architectural Bus Tour. The 2.5-hour tour provides an overview, as the website says, of the most significant mid-century “architectural treasures of Palm Springs.”
Taking a tour of Frey House II, the primary residence of architect Albert Frey, is also a rare opportunity because the home is perched about 200 to 300 feet up the steep slope of the San Jacinto Mountains above the Palm Springs Art Museum and requires a shuttle ride. It also offers a panoramic view of the city and the Coachella Valley. There’s also tours of the Modernism Week featured home, aka The Marquee at Twin Palms, as well as tours of The Lautner Compound, Atomic Ranch and more.
