The Coachella Valley is seeing orange with the return of the seventh annual All Color Growers Pumpkin Patch on Friday, Oct. 16.
Located in Bermuda Dunes, this year-round plant nursery, owned by Isaac and Ashley Rosales, transforms into the valley's primary pumpkin patch every late October. Open for three weekends this year, the family-friendly event will offer a petting zoo, corn pit, food vendors, photo opportunities, face painting, live music, kiddie barrel rides and more.
"We love seeing the community show up every year. The same faces we see every year come back, and we're seeing these kids grow from barely-can-walk to now they're full-on grownups," Isaac Rosales said as employees were getting the grounds ready on Wednesday, Oct. 14. "Just
when we think we're not going to do it again, it's just way too much and we're exhausted, when we see people show up and are really happy to be here, we love it. It's worth it."

Ashley Rosales said 18,000 pounds of pumpkins were hauled in from Manteca, a seven-hour drive from the Coachella Valley. Families will be able to purchase them for the season with prices ranging from $5 to $20 depending on size and type.
The pumpkin patch opens to the public 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with free admission (free just for opening day) for the whole family. All Color Growers Inc. is located at 78-790 Darby Road in Bermuda Dunes.
"We hope that will help out a lot of families not worry about that cost for opening night and just have a good time and enjoy the night here," Ashley Rosales said.
Admission for other days costs $10 for adults (ages 12 and older) and $5 for children (ages 2-11). Children under the ages of 11 are free before 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Hours of operation are:
- Fridays (Oct. 16, 23 and 30): 5-8 p.m.
- Saturdays (Oct. 17, 24 and 31): noon-8 p.m.
- Sundays (Oct. 18 and 25, Nov. 1): noon-8 p.m.
The Oct. 31 date will also host a trunk-or-treat event.

In preparation for the season, volunteers with LifeHouse Church Coachella helped unload and organize the grounds on Wednesday, Oct. 14. Check out The Desert Sun's photo gallery and video of the grounds getting ready.
