truck driver died early Friday, Aug. 21, when a big rig overturned on Interstate 10 just east of Chiriaco Summit, the California Highway Patrol said.
First reported at 7:25 a.m., the crash caused an eastbound lane to be closed for hours. CHP said in a traffic report the Number 1 lane would be closed at least until around 3 p.m.
A freightliner trailer hauling a tractor drove into the median causing the vehicle to overturn, according to City News Service. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
As of 11:30 a.m., Google Maps showed traffic continued to be slow due to the crash.
