A contractor is pursuing legal action alleging that it was unpaid for over $1 million in labor for a facility at the Wilmington International Airport’s business park.
California-based manufacturer Nucor Warehouse Systems has filed a claim of lien in connection with work the company carried out for the Frontier Scientific Solutions cold storage facility at the Wilmington airport, according to documents filed in New Hanover County District Court on Sept. 24. The filing alleges that the company was not paid for “specially fabricated materials and labor, manufactured racks and cabinets."
Nucor Warehouse Systems is pursuing a claim of $1,109,811.53, according to the filing. It states that the company began work on May 30, 2025, and completed its last
day on July 28, 2026. Frontier Scientific Solutions moved its headquarters into the building in September, according to reporting from the Wilmington Business Journal.
When asked about the filing, an airport spokesperson directed the StarNews to GID, the Boston-based real estate firm that bolstered the facility’s development with a $1.5 billion investment in November 2024. Representatives for GID declined to comment when reached on Oct. 6.
"Frontier is not a party to, nor involved in, the lien matter associated with the property. This is a matter between the builder and its vendors and is entirely separate from Frontier’s business operations," a representative for Frontier Scientific Solutions said in a statement.
Nucor Warehouse Systems did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
