A restaurant with a globally inspired menu is closed in Southport.
"Thank you for your patronage," said a note posted to social media. "We are closing Ports of Call Bistro, but will always love our local and global neighbors and memories shared."
The restaurant at 116 N. Howe St. added that they are hosting a closing sale for the furniture and decor. The motto of the bistro is "the world on your plate" and the owners prided themselves on offering international cuisine.
Jake Pfohl and Ray Acayan first visited Southport in 2005, and then opened Ports of Call in 2011 with a multicultural inspiration from their former New York City home. The menu included dishes and specials from Caribbean soups to Italian risottos.
The news comes after a recent announcement
that Blue Cow Grille on the nearby Moore Street was also closing. A new local owner is adding new food-and-drink concepts to the space.
In addition to their regular service, Ports of Call also hosted jazz nights, popular globally themed wine dinners and multi-course holiday meals.
"We appreciate having served you with world cuisine for over 15 years," said the note from Ports of Call.
