A former New Hanover County Schools teacher accused of assaulting two elementary school students was found not guilty in New Hanover District Court on July 27.
Brittany Wells Kosch, 31, of Wilmington faced two counts of assault on a child under 12, both Class A1 misdemeanors. She was alleged to have slapped a 6-year-old child in the head/neck area and kicked another 6-year-old child in the abdomen on Sept. 11, 2025, according to the criminal summons.
The one count related to slapping was dismissed, and Kosch was found not guilty of the other count, according to court records.
Kosch, who was hired at Anderson Elementary School in Wilmington in August 2015 and resigned on Sept. 26, 2025, according to New Hanover County Schools. She was a special
education teacher, according to archives on the school’s website.
