Wilmington's one and only horror film festival is mostly sold out for this weekend, but there's still a chance to get in on the fun, even if you don't have tickets yet.
The third annual First Cut Film Festival
opens 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, with a public launch party at Waterline Brewing under the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. Tickets are $10, there will be live music from Jesse Stockton, Michaelwwave and Mars in Spring, with Brooke Renshaw from Oc3ans doing a special, First-Cut-inspired surprise song.
Plus, top-notch Wilmington comic MT Bottles will host, and I'm told there will be ticket giveaways to Saturday's sold-out screenings at Jengo's Playhouse.
If you don't land tickets for Saturday, there's a public after-party at Jengo's on Saturday night, and there are still some tickets left for the best-of-the-fest "First Cut Gems" 5 p.m. Sunday at Jengo's, followed by a wrap party at Hollywood East Brewseum on Market Street.
OK, now let's see what else is going down in Wilmington this weekend.
Weekend weather outlook
It's shaping up to be a wet weekend. Driest times look to be Friday evening and Saturday morning, with chance of rain and storms pretty sure-to-certain starting Saturday afternoon into Sunday. Highs in the mid to upper 70s, lows in the mid to upper 60s.
