Happy Halloween. Wait, in August?
That’s a spooky thought as the days on the calendar fly by.
A seasonal Halloween and costume store has returned with two Wilmington locations, including one at Independence Mall.
Meanwhile, a popular fast-food chicken restaurant has temporarily closed at Independence Mall.
Where to find Halloween spirit
Spirit Halloween has reopened next to the Sam’s Club at 412 College Road and at the former Forever 21 fashion clothing store in Independence Mall at 3500 Oleander Drive, Suite 1069.
With over 1,500 stores in the United States and Canada, Spirit Halloween calls itself the largest Halloween retailer in North America. In addition to officially licensed costumes for men, women and children, featuring characters from movies, TV shows, video games and horror
classics, Spirit Halloween offers Halloween decor.
“Spirit Halloween is not your average costume shop,” the business’ website said. “It’s a fully immersive Halloween destination packed with spooky surprises around every corner. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’ll be surrounded by thrilling animatronics, eerie sound effects, glowing Halloween lights, and shelves stocked with everything you need to celebrate the season in style.”
Spirit Halloween advertises officially licensed merchandise for franchises that include Disney, Harry Potter, Ghostbusters, Sponge Bob Square Pants, Marvel and Shrek.
While the stores are only open for a few months each year, items may be purchased throughout the year via spirithalloween.com.
A Chick-fil-A closes temporarily
Meanwhile, the Chick-fil-A at the Independence Mall food court is temporarily closed. A note on its website simply said: “We’re temporarily closed. We look forward to serving you again soon.”
The mall is owned by 4th Dimension Properties. Asked why Chick-fil-A closed and when it is expected to reopen, Felix Reznick, the 4th Dimension Properties principal owner, replied in an email: “At this point we have no comment. Once we can discuss we will reach out.”
A Chick-fil-A spokeswoman declined to comment on the record. Chick-fil-A shared that customers can visit a nearby Chick-fil-A at 3389 Oleander Drive.
