As the old saying goes, there are two certainties in life: death and taxes. Nothing can be done about the former, and governments run on the latter.
From schools to roads to bridges to public safety services and much more, it ultimately comes from the dollars collected from taxpayers.
Taxes may not be popular, but they are a reality. They are needed to keep counties and municipalities operating. Every budget sets priorities and indicates what a community is willing to invest in its present and future.
