A Wilmington pizzeria was featured in a national article from USA TODAY. Girls with Dough Pizzeria & Pub was among 27 listed as recommendations on where to find America’s best pizzas.

The restaurant at 204 Arcadian Row in the Riverlights community was recently voted best in Southeastern North Carolina in a readers’ poll from the Wilmington StarNews, which helped launch it to national attention.

Owner Tammy Tilghman said the crust, which is made with a secret ingredient, sets the pizzas apart and makes an ideal base for both traditional and creative toppings. And there’s also a pizza on the menu created by Alex Highsmith, the local football player who is currently with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL.

USA TODAY’s list includes two North Carolina

restaurants. The 828 Family Pizzeria in Asheville is another go-to spot for pizza.
