
A pedestrian was killed after a hit-a-run collision, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
In a news release, Wilmington police stated officers responded to the 1200 block of S. 17th Street around
2:46 a.m. on Sept. 6 after a reported hit-and-run involving a pedestrian.
"Preliminary information indicates that a truck struck a 58-year-old man who was in the roadway," the release stated.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Wilmington Police Department or use Tip 411.
The Wilmington Police Department said this was the second pedestrian fatality occurring over Labor Day weekend. A 33-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Sept. 4.
