Liz Harris and Maranda Guarascio see a natural connection between brews and books.
“I’ve often wanted to browse in a bookstore with a beer in hand,” Harris said.
They were even part of a book club that toured local breweries. Although they have a background in healthcare, they are now segueing to the hospitality and retail space.
Lit. Books & Brews is in the works at 1118 Castle St. in Wilmington as a cozy bookstore with and beer-and-wine bar. The book selection will focus on new releases and popular titles. The bar will have eight taps. One will be devoted to prosecco, Harris said. The others will feature beers from local breweries such as Salty Turtle Beer Company in Surf City, Wilmington Brewing Company and Waterline Brewing Co. There will also
be a dedicated area for book club meetings.
"I’m most excited about bringing this business to the area and creating a space where people can socialize, enjoy a drink, and read a book," she said.
The business is also close to The Roasted Bookery, which is currently at 1102 Castle St., but Harris said that she didn't think their selections would overlap. The owners worked with Sun Coast Partners Commercial for the project.
