
A Raleigh woman is facing multiple charges after the vehicle she was driving hit a Wilmington bicyclist late Friday, Aug. 21.
According to a Wilmington police news release, Tierra Latrice Blackston, 38, was driving north on Carolina Beach Road when she hit Christopher Johnston, 69, around 11:40 p.m.
The collision took place in the 2100 block of Carolina Beach Road.
Johnston died at the scene, according to police.
Blackston is charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, reckless driving, and driving with a revoked license.
She also had several children with her in the car and is facing misdemeanor child abuse charges, according to police.
Blackston is in the New Hanover County jail under a $400,000 secured bond.
