A motorcyclist was killed in a multiple-vehicle collision in Wilmington on Sept. 1.
The driver of the motorcycle was identified as a 37-year-old Wilmington man, according to a news release from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. His name was not released.
The collision occurred at approximately 6:39 p.m. on Castle Hayne Road by Interstate 140.
Troopers arriving at the scene saw a motorcycle, SUV and passenger car on Castle Hayne Road with damage. It was determined that the SUV and passenger car were both traveling northbound on Castle Hayne Road and the motorcycle was exiting off I-140, making a right turn onto Castle Hayne Road, according to the release.
Ballard said the motorcycle lost control on the turn and overturned onto Castle Hayne
Road before the SUV struck the motorcycle and the passenger car struck debris from the collision.
No charges have been filed, according to the release.
