North Carolina high school football scores, live updates for Week 1

Week 1 of the North Carolina high school football season is finally here.

After months of buildup, Thursday, Aug. 20, marks the start of the 2026 season for nearly 100 teams across the state as the possibility

of storms pushed games up a day.

A little, or maybe even a lot, of rain won't stop Wilmington-area squads from kicking off the season. Five area teams will play Thursday, with the rest still slated to suit up Friday. Find a comprehensive list of the latest Week 1 schedule changes here.
