What is the story about?

A Wilmington shopping center will soon see at least two vacant spaces filled.

Signs at two empty storefronts at the University Centre complex point to a national shoe warehouse's first location in Wilmington along with a women's clothing store.

Designer Shoe Warehouse, or DSW, will move into the former JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts. Just two doors away, a Rainbow women's clothing store is gearing up to open in the former rue21.

DSW has 10 North Carolina locations with the closest in Fayetteville. It carries name-brand shoes and fashion accessories for men, women and children. Signs on the doors say the DSW will open on Nov. 12.

The Rainbow store will be the Port City's second location

joining one at Independence Mall.

Other stores at the University Centre shopping center include Bob's Discount Furniture, Old Navy, Ross, Staples, Petco, Crunch Fitness, Lowe's Home Improvement and Sam's Club among others.
