Bids for Castle Street boat ramp repairs and Riverwalk support have been received by the city of Wilmington.
The project is required to preserve critical waterfront infrastructure and ensure ongoing public safety and usability, according to the city.
The Riverwalk support work would be next to Anne Bonny’s Bar and Grill, which calls itself Wilmington’s only floating bar and restaurant. Located in the water across from the Battleship North Carolina, Anne Bonny’s address is 106 South Water St.
Bids were due on Aug. 11. Amy Passaretti Willis, Wilmington’s communications manager, said the city has received two bids that are being evaluated.
Since the work cannot commence until a construction contract is signed, there is no timeline for the project,
which is expected to have a 90-day duration, Willis said.
The maintenance and repairs of the Castle Street Boat Ramp include cleaning and re-coating support piles of ground-out dock; installing kingboard along pile; cleaning, patching, and re-coating sheet piles; repairing sections of the timber bulkhead; reattaching the weep pipe to the bulkhead; and replacing and painting a bollard.
The work next to Anne Bonny’s involves repairing and/or replacing steel support brackets and replacing cross braces and bolts in cross braces as required.
