What is the story about?

Two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting at Bojangles in Leland on Sept. 7.

Around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, Leland Police Department officers received a call for service regarding shots fired, according to a Leland news release. Two teenagers are facing charges following an investigation of the shooting.

The release states officers determined that John Reid III, 18, and Scott Griffin, 19, negligently discharged a firearm within town limits. Each have been charged with a town ordinance violation for discharging a firearm within town limits.

Reid suffered an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound and was transported by ambulance to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. He has since been released.

There

is no ongoing threat to the public, according to the original announcement on Sept. 7.
