Three people have been arrested recently in connection with the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy in Wilmington earlier this month.
Sencere Maurice Ortiz, 22, of Wilmington was arrested Sept. 23. He is charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to court records.
Another Wilmington man, Dorian Maurice McNeil, 24, was arrested two days earlier. Court records show he faces the same charges in relation with the death and robbery of the victim’s iPhone in the area of South Fifth Avenue and Dawson Street after 8 p.m. on Sept. 8. Wilmington police said they found the boy suffering from life-threatening injuries, and he died that night in a hospital from his injuries.
Arrest warrants state that McNeil and Ortiz were
in possession of a 9mm-caliber firearm, which was used to threaten and endanger the boy.
Meanwhile, Alexis Ervina Monee Johnson, 25, of Rocky Point was arrested Sept. 23 and charged with accessory after the fact, a felony.
Johnson became an accessory after the fact to those crimes, according to the arrest warrant.
McNeil and Ortiz are being held without bond.
McNeil made his first appearance in New Hanover District Court Sept. 22 and was appointed a public defender as counsel. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 1.
The first court appearance for Ortiz was scheduled for Sept. 24.
Johnson waived her right to the assignment of counsel at her Sept. 23 court appearance. A $150,000 secured bond was set.
