The Wilmington Police Department is investigating the shooting of a teenager in the early hours of Oct. 7.
Officers who heard multiple gunshots in the 200 block of South Kerr Avenue at around 12:54 a.m. found the 16-year-old who had been shot and provided lifesaving care until emergency medical services arrived, according to a police department news release. The juvenile was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
Investigators determined a gunman in a vehicle opened fire on an SUV in which the teen was a passenger. The driver of the SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the gunfire, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Wilmington Police Department
