After months withouthigh school sports action in North Carolina, the 2026-2027 athletic school year kicked off last week, with the first competitions beginning Aug. 10.
The return to action also means the return of the StarNews Athlete of the Week Poll. The fan-driven poll highlights some of the best athletic performances from across the Wilmington area each week and allows fans to choose their favorite.
