A Wilmington man was arrested Sept. 21 in connection with a death earlier this month.
Dorian Maurice McNeil, 24, killed the victim and stole their iPhone on Sept. 8, according to arrest records. He is charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to court records.
McNeil was in possession of a 9mm-caliber firearm, which he used to threaten and endanger the victim, the arrest warrant states.
Court records indicate that McNeil was on supervised probation at the time of the incident. He made his first appearance in New Hanover District Court Sept. 22 and was appointed a public defender as counsel. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 1.
McNeil is being held at the New Hanover County jail under no bond.

Wilmington Police Department spokesperson said the agency will release information on the incident when it is cleared through its detective division. Asked why the department had not released information about the death earlier, he said he could not comment further.
