Beach High School is on lockdown after shots were fired at a nearby park on Friday morning, according to a Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) spokesperson.
At around 8:20 a.m. on Friday, Savannah Police Department (SPD) officers responded to the 800 block of W. 45th St., near Cann Park, based on a ShotSpotter report, law enforcement said. The shooting was not at the school.
SCCPSS level 3 lockdown is the highest safety response level, and requires a full shelter in place procedure with no one allowed to come in or out of the school.
No injuries were reported at the time of publication, nor were any arrests made.
The district rescheduled a planned press conference regarding the new personal electronic device policy to another day
next week.
