Officials in Effingham County have released a planned water outage and boil advisory for the South Brook Subdivision from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday as components to a water well will be replaced.
"Once the work is complete, the water system will be thoroughly flushed to ensure proper water quality and systemoperation before being returned to full service," reads a press release from the county. "In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, customers that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to use only boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking, cooking or preparing food."
The press release goes on to say residents should heat water until bubbles come quickly and continue heating
for an additional minute until it starts to boil. The Center for Disease Control recommends boiled or bottled water be used for brushing teeth, drinking water for pets, washing food, making baby formula and making ice.
