a look back at Savannah's River Street through the years, from its working waterfront roots to a thriving destination for events.

Work begins in the mid-70s $7 million Rousakis Riverfront Plaza. The half-mile project, designed with an 18th century flavor and with an eye toward pumping new life in the waterfront area, was dedicated in honor of Savannah Mayor John Rousakis in June 1978.
