Georgians may want to check the packaging on the meat in their fridge or freezer.
About 1.5 million pounds of meat and poultry products were recalled due to "temperature abuse during storage," according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. The recalled products amount to 1,584,361 pounds and were from Kayem Foods, a family-owned craft meat business that sells under multiple brands.
The announcement came out last week after a retail customer complaint that the products they received were warm when delivered. No illnesses related to the recall have been reported, but inspectors were concerned that consumers may still have the products at home.
Which items are being recalled?
Various items are being recalled, including hot dogs, bacon, oven-roasted
turkey breasts and more. They were produced between March 31 and Oct. 7. Products from the following brands are included in the recall:

The recalled products can be identified by the following establishment numbers, according to the announcement:

What should you do if you purchased the recalled products?
The FSIS urges those who purchased the recalled products not to consume them. Instead, customers should either throw away the products or return them to the location where they were originally purchased.
FoodSafety.gov states that perishable food should never be kept out of refrigeration for more than two hours. A refrigerator should be set to 40 degrees or below and a freezer to 0 degrees or below. Bacteria that cause food poisoning multiply the quickest between 40 degrees and 140 degrees.
Anyone with questions regarding the recall can call Kayem Foods Customer Service between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday, at 1-800-426-6100 or email the company at info@kayem.com.
