Tier 1 automotive supplier Yura Corporation is investing $5 million and creating 55 jobs in Chatham County. The company announced Tuesday that it will open a manufacturing facility in Bloomingdale to produce wiring harnesses and electronic modules for Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, according to a press release from the Savannah Economic Development Authority.
“Yura Corporation is a leader in the development and manufacturing of automotive wiring harnesses, electronic control modules and eco-friendly auto parts, and we are excited they have chosen Chatham County for this first Southeast location," said Savannah Economic Development Authority President and CEO Trip Tollison. "As they begin operations here, we look forward to building a lasting
partnership and helping support their continued growth and investment in Chatham County.”
The Bloomingdale site will be Yura's first in Georgia. The company operates 49 sites in 17 countries.
“Building on our global expertise and strong partnership with Hyundai Motor Group, Yura Corporation is proud to establish our first Southeastern U.S. presence in Chatham County," said Myoungsun Cho, president of Yura Corporation Savannah. "This facility will serve as a key supply hub delivering wiring harnesses and electronic modules to HMGMA. Beyond business operations, we are committed to sustainable management, striving for mutual prosperity with the local community as a trusted partner."
Yura is part of a growing number of international companies investing in Georgia, which Gov. Brian Kemp's office says was recently named the nation's best state for doing business for the 13th consecutive year.
“Yura Corporation’s decision to establish its first Southeastern presence in Georgia demonstrates trust in our state’s business environment and positions both Georgia and Yura Corporation for continued growth as the hybrid and EV supply chain expands,” Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson said. “International companies often start with sales, distribution, or other support presences that scale up or evolve into manufacturing footprints. Georgia’s combination of global connectivity, affordable cost of doing business, and workforce development solutions provides the right environment for companies to grow.”
HMGMA has attracted 22 suppliers representing more than 7,300 jobs and $2.5 billion in investment. In Effingham County, Tier 1 supplier Sewon America announced in February 2023 that it would build a facility off Old Augusta Road, a $300 million investment expected to create 740 jobs. Last year, Sewon announced a big expansion, including 100 jobs and an additional $50 million. Hyundai Mobis, a supplier that specializes in power electric systems, in nearby Bryan County, announced in 2022 it would create 1,578 jobs.
