Hayden Panettiere'sacting career began when she was a child, eventuallytaking her from television roles to some of Hollywood's biggest productions.
Following news of her death Sunday at 36, fans are looking back at the actress's career, including one of her connections to Georgia.
Panettiere filmed in the Peach State for more than one project, including a movie that helped make her a recognizable young actress.
Here's what to know.
Panettiere's Georgia film connection
Panettiere appeared as Cheryl Yoast in the 2000 sports drama "Remember the Titans," starring Denzel Washington and Will Patton.
The movie may be set in Virginia, but Georgia stood in for much of the story.
Explore Georgia says filming took place in Atlanta, Covington, Decatur and Rome, including locations at Berry College.
The movie's Georgia locations were used to portray Virginia, allowing the production to recreate the setting of the real-life 1971 story without filming entirely in the state where the story took place.
Another Panettiere project was filmed in Atlanta
"Remember the Titans" wasn't the only Panettiere project with a Georgia filming connection.
IMDblists the 2007 documentary "In Search of Puppy Love" as having been filmed in Atlanta, Georgia. Panettiere is listed among the people appearing as themselves in the project.
The documentary centers on a search for love and includes an animal-rescue component.
Panettiere's career
Panettiere became widely known for roles including Claire Bennet on NBC's "Heroes" and Juliette Barnes on ABC's "Nashville." She also appeared in the Scream franchise and other film and television projects.
Her death was confirmed by her representative in a statement shared on behalf of her father, Alan Panettiere, according to People magazine.
She died Sunday, Aug. 16, at age 36.
