A shooting at a Macon park that wounded 12 teenagers has led to multiple arrests as Bibb County investigatorscontinue working to determine what happened.
The gunfire broke out shortly after midnight Sunday, Sept. 27, at Carolyn Crayton Park during a gathering near the park's skate area.
The victims, who range in age from 17 to 19, were taken to hospitals after the shooting. Two were initially listed in critical condition, while the others were reported stable.
A 19-year-old man who arrived at a medical facility later Sunday was identified as an additional victim, bringing the total to 12.
Four arrests were announced Tuesday
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office initially announced the arrests of David Pitts and Jaquez Bailey.
Pitts was charged with 12 counts of aggravated assault as a party
to a crime, while Bailey faces 12 counts of aggravated assault. Both were being held without bond.
Investigators then identified two additional suspects: 17-year-old Lantonio Hill and 19-year-old Justin Green.
Hill and Green were arrested Tuesday after investigators served search and arrest warrants with assistance from the sheriff's office, the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Both were charged with 12 counts of aggravated assault and were being held without bond.
A fifth person was later arrested
The number of people facing charges increased to five after investigators announced the arrest of 15-year-old Ahmad Lundy.
Lundy was transferred to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center and is expected to be tried as an adult, according to local reporting.
That means the initial report of four arrests from Tuesday afternoon was later followed by another arrest.
What investigators say happened
The shooting happened around 12:06 a.m. Sunday during a large gathering near the skate park at Carolyn Crayton Park, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff David Davis said the gathering began as an 18th birthday celebration at a short-term rental in Jones County. The group later moved to Carolyn Crayton Park after being asked to leave the rental property.
According to the sheriff's office, a second group arrived at the park and the two groups exchanged words, displayed firearms and then exchanged gunfire. Investigators have been working to determine what led to the confrontation.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Five Northeast High School (Macon) football players are reportedly among the teenagers injured.
The social mediapost identified five Northeast students and asked the community to keep them in their prayers.
Football roster records show the five students have been part of the Northeast Raiders football program, although the sheriff's office has not independently confirmed that each of the five was among those shot.
