The Savannah area rental market is bucking national trends this calendar year.
The average rent price in the U.S. has increased each month this year while Savannah's rental price has somewhat stabilized since February, according to Zillow data. The average rent in Savannah in June was $1,807, which was down 1.3% compared to the same time last year.
The national average rent price has consistently been above Savannah's, with June's coming in at $1,965. But this year, the increase in national rent has significantly outpaced local prices. Savannah saw a near $10 per month increase from January to February, but that rate has stayed relatively flat since.
Nationwide, the average rent price has increased each month this year after starting at $1,919
in January.
