Red Bull has consistently been one of the top-selling energy drink in the U.S. But, Georgian fans who shop at Kroger have had to get it elsewhere, because Red Bull was removed from stores Aug. 31 nationwide.
Why did Kroger stop selling Red Bull?
Kroger has not provided comments to the USA Today Co. However, pictures of signs on shelves have been posted across social media (like the one below) saying it's about the price of Red Bull.
This was done around the same time Boar's Head was pulled from several locations and as new CEO Greg Foran vowed to push back against higher prices from food companies and other suppliers. On a Sept. 11 conference call, Foran said he wouldn’t tolerate vendors "using inflation" to boost sales when customers were clearly
"under pressure."
Foran also said if Kroger couldn’t find acceptable prices from vendors, the grocer would stock more of its house branded items.
